No, I didn’t bother watching the “date night” State of the Union event. I wasn’t in the mood for a lot of lies from the Socialist in Chief.
The past week has been one of both joy and sorrow around Casa Crustacean. Our daughters each got a 5 week old dachshund puppy, Bella and Oreo. That was the good. Our eldest’s cat, which she got for Christmas when she was one, lost his fight with diabetes at age 11 and had to be put down. She made the final decision, and that is hard on a 12 year old.
Abortion, especially late-term or “partial-birth” abortion is back in the spotlight. A “doctor” in Filthadelphia has been revealed to have performed many grisly procedures over the past 27 or more years since his last inspection by the State of Pennsylvania. He’s being called a monster, and worse, for what he did. Meanwhile, the Democratic Party and their allies in the National Abortion Rights Action League, the National Organization of Women, and other left-wing extremist groups have been supporting exactly the same kinds of procedures this whole time. Barack Obama and other Democrat Senators have supported the procedures on the floor of the Senate. Obama even supported the procedures as a State Senator in Corruptionois, since a hospital run by Reverend Wright’s associates performed partial-birth abortions like the “doctor” in Philly. Can anybody explain how the left is so shocked, amazed, and disturbed by partial-birth abortions when they have been championing them for decades?
If Obamacare was such a good deal and soooooo absolutely necessary to keep all Americans from dying, then why are so many organizations that helped get it passed getting waivers so they don’t have to comply with it? Congressional Republicans were already investigating over 200 waivers, and now there are three that have really caught our eyes. Three chapters of the Service Employees International Union, the Obama-Soros Purple Shirt thugs from campaign season, are getting waivers, including the Chicago chapter.
Once again it is time for me to rant about the stooooopidity of those who run our court systems. The shooting in Tucson was caught on video, and was witnessed by many, including the people who tackled and captured the shooter. Will someone give a rational explanation of why experts are saying that it will take years for the case to get through the legal system? This case could be taken to a grand jury tomorrow and to a courtroom next week. He could, and should, be tried, convicted, sentenced to death, and the sentence carried out before July 4th. This is yet another example of why we need serious legal reform in our country. As for the shooter, he and his lawyer actually had the nads to plead NOT GUILTY on Monday. How does a judge even let someone who is caught in the act make such a plea? It defies all logic and reality.
A miracle has occurred in the courts of Corruptionois. The state appeals court has thrown Rahm Emanuel off of the ballot in the Chicago mayoral election. Everybody and their dog knows that Rahmbo did not live in the city for the past year, which is a requirement to be eligible for election, but Chicago Board of Election Commissioners and a Crook County judge had decided that it was in the mafia’s best intere….er, the best interest of the Democratic machine to….uh, best interest of the voters in the graveyards of Chi…..well, it was in THEIR best interest to allow Rahm to break the law and become Mayor. We all know how much the actual LAW is respected in that city and by all Democrats even remotely associated with Chicago.
Boy, am I glad that I will soon be a FORMER UAW member. The United Auto Workers union has just proved that they really don’t give a rat’s arse about American union members. For them it is all about power and money. The UAW, thanks to violations of federal bankruptcy laws engineered by the Obama Administration, has majority ownership of General Motors. GM, and the UAW, will spend $540,000,000+ to build facilities and start production of two new low-emission vehicles. “But Crawfish,” you say, “isn’t that going to bring in some new jobs?” Yes, it will. The problem is that the jobs will be in Central Mexico! Oh, and by the way…much of that money came from you and me in the form of federal bailouts.
The Crawfish thanks regular Claw contributor “Buck” for this article concerning the firing of the Commanding Officer of the aircraft carrier USS Enterprise (CVN-65) earlier this month. The author properly points out that the videos in question were simple buffoonery intended to keep up morale for a ship that has been at sea for quite a while, and that the officer’s misconduct pales in comparison to one William Jefferson Clinton’s misconduct. Clinton wasn’t just in command of a ship. He was in command of all of the armed forces and the whole nation, yet the Democrats, many of whom are happy with the ending of this Captain’s career, not only refused to relieve Billy Jeff of his command, they re-elected him! As a sidebar, note that the author also points out that our Navy is now smaller than it has been since 1916, yet SecDef Gates, POTUS Obama, and the rest of the liberals want to cut it back even farther.
Wow. A black man born in Africa, who is a longtime ACORN organizer, and is a thug who is well-schooled in the tactics of Saul Alinsky is taking over the Democratic Party. No, I’m NOT talking about Barack Obama, although every bit of that description fits him as well.
The Religion of Peace struck again, this time at the airport in Moscow. The suicide bomber killed at least 35 and wounded over 150 in his quest for the mythical 72 virgins promised by the Pedophilic False Prophet. Will CAIR come out and say that Islam is just misunderstood, and that this is a valid way of protesting?

1-20-2011 The Weekly Claw
I know, I know….I’m a day late in posting. Things are a bit nutso around Casa Crustacean, so I didn’t get around to it until today.
While this may be old news, it is good to run across a story about someone who does his best to honor his comrades in a meaningful way. As one who definitely appreciates the pipes, and who can easily lose it when the pipes play “Amazing Grace”, The Crawfish salutes Technical Sergeant Iain Morrison of the United States Air Force.
The “memorial service” in Tucson on Wednesday was almost as sickening as the Paul Wellstone Memorial Pep Rally held by the Democrats a couple of years back. The White House is saying that they were surprised at the applause from the crowd, even though they were asking for applause on the Jumbotron. They even had t-shirts made up and given out to the participants. Is “Together We Thrive” replacing “Hope and Change” as the new Obama campaign slogan? Well, maybe. You see, the Administration tried to say that it was the university that did the t-shirt handout, and that the Administration (and the Obama campaign team) had nothing to do with it, but thanks to Al Gore and his invention of the internet, we see that the Obamites were using that slogan on their campaign website as far back as February of 2008.
The whole address by The Chosen One was a call for more “civility” in our political dialogue. How did it go over? Well, less than a week later, the Democrats are comparing the Republicans to the Nazis. Why do they have such a hard time realizing that the National Socialist Workers Party was a socialist party, and therefore more kin to the Democrats than the GOP? I know, why let facts get in the way of rhetorical attacks.
Nutsy P-Lousy now says that the Tucson shootings were a “tragic accident.” Accident? Is that what they call it when a lefty goes berserk and starts shooting people? I guess the strategy of calling him a right-wing follower of Beck, Palin, Hannity, and Limbaugh isn’t panning out. Nancy Pelosi has become the official spokesperson for EPIC FAIL!
One of the victims of the shooting has been involuntarily committed to a mental health facility by the Pima County Sheriff’s Department. During a taping of an ABC town hall event, he took a photo of the local Tea Party spokesman and shouted at him “You’re dead!” The man had previously made public comments that Glenn Beck and Sarah Palin had gotten their “first victim” in the shooting. The man is obviously mentally “touched” and has Palin Derangement Syndrome, since he still blames the right for the actions of a man who has been repeatedly described as a “liberal pothead”.
So which side of the political coin really does engage in hate-filled rhetoric that calls for violence? Well, there’s this listing of death wishes against conservatives by media-types. Michelle (***sigh***) Malkin provides this primer of left-wing hate from 2000-2010. Do ya get the picture yet, lefties?
If not, Michelle has another fantastic column detailing how the left tries to pin EVERY big episode of violence in America on the eeeeeevillll right wing Constitution lovers, when in reality it is more often disgruntled leftists who are the culprits.
Then there are the Democrats who are using the Tucson shootings to attempt to defend Obamacare. Talk about grasping for straws in a desperate manner!
The Administration, like the good anti-American socialists they are, wants to slash defense spending to cure our budgetary problems, instead of cutting spending on entitlement programs that are unConstitutional. Ben Stein does not believe that this is the prudent thing to do.
The Canadian Broadcast Standards Council really does have nothing better to do than go searching for any possible outrage, no matter how old. They have now determined that the Dire Straits mega-hit “Money For Nothing” is extremely offensive, because it uses the word “faggot” three times, and thus must never again be played in its unedited form over Canuck radio waves. Uh, folks…the song was released in 1985 on the album “Brothers in Arms”, was one of the early huge hit videos on MTV, and has been played unedited for a quarter of a century with a grand total of about 4 complaints. In a meaningful salute to those dorks up north, The Crawfish will make sure that his iPod plays that album daily during my workdays over the next 2 weeks.
The people of Houston are idiots. What else can explain how Sheila Jackson Lee keeps getting re-elected by those people. Oh, I mean besides her skin color. The Blog Prof has a nice video of Sheila explaining how a repeal of Obamacare would be unConstitutional. How can the repeal of something that is completely unConstitutional be unConstitutional? Stand by to be amused at her ignorance.
Then there’s the people of Georgia, who keep re-electing John Lewis. That dolt says that the Preamble to the Constitution’s “pursuit of happiness” language makes the Obamacare REQUIREMENT that individuals purchase health insurance perfectly Constitutional, and so does the 14th Amendment’s “equal protection” clause. Affirmative Action worked for him!
How is this for an outrage. In Columbia, South Carolina, the NAACP (racist organization) ran the local Martin Luther King Junior Day celebration. To make sure it was a celebration of skin color instead of America, they concealed the statue of George Washington at their rally site. What would happen is a white organization covered up a statue of a black man at their rally?
Remember how, after the 2010 elections, Hawaii’s governor promised to produce the long-form birth certificate? Well, uh, about all they can find right now is notation that such a record was entered in the official records. FAIL!

1-12-2011 The Weekly Claw
The shootings in Arizona have taken up most of the news this week, and most of the interest, so this edition of The Claw ain’t all that big.
Okay, rhetorical question, but…is Nancy Pelosi certifiably nuts? In her final news conference as Queen of the House, she said “Deficit reduction has been a high priority for us. It is our mantra, pay-as-you-go.” Really? How does she explain the national debt rising by over FIVE TRILLION DOLLARS during her time as Speaker? Let’s flashback to four years ago, when she took the gavel as Speaker. Her first speech (courtesy of The Daily Kook) included a number of lies, such as wanting to rebuild the military, but most notable was this one: “After years of historic deficits, this new Congress will commit itself to a higher standard: pay as you go, no new deficit spending. Our new America will provide unlimited opportunity for future generations, not burden them with mountains of debt.”
The left wants to do ANYTHING to keep Social Insecurity and other unConstitutional entitlement programs going. Could they be looking to Hungary, Poland, and Bulgaria for inspiration? Probably.
Okay, The Crawfish admits it. I watch figure skating during the Olympics. Once upon a time, you could tell the difference between the men and the women. Not so much, anymore. Three-time U.S. Champion Johnny Weir just made some headlines when he released a book that revealed one of the most open secrets in the history of sports. The flamer is a homo. Simply put, Weir is as masculine as RuPaul or Elton John, but until now he never admitted the obvious. Did he think the rest of the world didn’t know? That’s almost like Obama admitting that he’s an America-hating, Constitution-hating, extreme left wing socialist muslim. Nothing there that the whole world didn’t already know.
Another American hero has left us. Richard Winters died on January 2nd. If the name sounds familiar, but you cannot place it, he was the main character in Stephen Ambrose’s book and the HBO mini-series “Band of Brothers”. His actions at Brecourt Manor are still used as an example of small unit tactics at WestPoint. The Crawfish wished to render a final salute to a fine officer and gentleman.
Obama’s political homeland of Corruptionois has been completely ruled, not governed, by corrupt union-backed Democrats since 2003. As a result, the state budget has ballooned, and the state legislature had to do something about their huge deficit. On a party-line vote, they passed a bill to raise state income taxes by 66%. Did they even consider reducing spending, especially by cutting back on the public sector union pay and benefit increases that have been out of control over those seven years? Yeah, right. They’re Democrats, so that is strictly verbotten.
While we want all Democrats removed from public office, we want it done through legal and untainted elections. We do NOT want them removed from office by violent actions. Representative Gabrielle Giffords of Arizona was seriously wounded by a gunman who fired into a crowd in Tucson. The wife of an astronaut, Giffords was not part of the 100% far left wing of the Democratic Party, as she supports strong border control, strong sanctions on employers who hire illegals, and opposed gun control plans. On the other hand, she did oppose oil companies and has a 100% rating from NARAL. Meanwhile, Federal Judge John Roll was killed in the incident. Roll, put on the federal bench by Bush the Elder (more proof that the Bush family is made up of nothing but liberals), was the judge who allowed a lawsuit by illegal aliens to proceed against an Arizona rancher who defended his property against foreign invasion. Since he was a federal judge, he could not be removed by election, but murder is still not the acceptable way of getting him out of office.
The shooter is a left wing nutjob who couldn’t get a job or a girlfriend and still lived with Mommy and Daddy, even though the media and the Democrats (but I repeat myself) have been trying to pin this on the Tea Party, Sarah Palin, Glenn Beck, Fox News, Rush Limbaugh, the 2nd Amendment, George W. Bush, Dick Cheney, and Ronald Reagan since Rep. Giffords was being put into the ambulance. They claim that those who oppose their left wing extremism are to blame for their incendiary rhetoric, but there was a post on the Daily Kook that had her being declared “dead to me!” by one of their contributors. Once the shooting happened, they tried to scrub their site. Gunny G has a post up that shows some of the REAL violent rhetoric out there, and it ain’t from the side of the aisle that believes in the actual words of the Constitution.
One of the leftists in the Senate took the cake when it came to politicizing the shootings. Bernie Sanders actually used the shootings in campaign fundraising letters, of course blaming Republicans for their rhetoric. Facts and the Constitution are to be completely ignored if you are a Democrat. Okay, so Sanders calls himself a Socialist…SAME THING!
They’re trying, but will the Democrats be able to use this event as their Reichstag Fire and pass new laws and regulations to allow them to silence Conservatives and bypass the Constitution?

1-5-2011 The Weekly Claw
Although a number of The Crawfish’s readers dislike any references to sports, I’ve gotta salute my hometown team. The Texas Christian University Horned Frogs finished a perfect 13-0 season by defeating the Wisconsin Badgers by a score of 21-19 in the 2011 Rose Bowl. Congrats to the Froggies!
A black man with a history of violence and sex crimes in two states, and who was out on bail from a violent offense here in September, killed a rookie cop in Arlington, TX, before killing his ex-girlfriend and himself. The perp had multiple charges against him in Washington state, so I don't understand why he only had to register as a sex offender here. He shoulda been locked up for that. With that history, how in the world did he get a bail of less than $10M for his offense in September? This brings up another thing that constantly hacks me off. If the jerk was arrested in September and charged then, why wasn't the case sent to trial in October? Doesn't the Constitution say something about "a speedy and public trial" (6th Amendment for those of you with confused looks on your faces)????? Then these judges have month-long breaks in the trials, from opening motions, to jury selection, to initial phase, then take 6 months off before the sentencing phase....BRAVO SIERRA! From the time that the charges are brought, the prosecution and defense should have a MAXIMUM of 3 weeks to get their crap together for trial to begin. Jury selection on one day, with the opening arguments starting the next day. The only days off from that point forward should be weekends and holidays. Once the perp is found guilty, the sentencing phase begins. If found guilty in the morning, sentencing begins after the lunch break. If found guilty in the afternoon, sentencing begins at 0900 the following day. The Crawfish knows that this can work, as I was on a jury in 1985 that found a perp guilty in the morning, took a lunch break, went through the sentencing phase, and dealt out a sentence of 63 years.
Another federal court has made a ruling in which they declare that they have absolutely no clue as to what the Constitution actually says. They have ruled that a cross on a war memorial on federal ground is unConstitutional because it is a government endorsement of religion. What does the Constitution say about the matter? Of course, it says “CONGRESS SHALL MAKE NO LAW respecting an establishment of religion or prohibiting the free exercise thereof” (emphasis mine). Is a cross on a war memorial CONGRESS making a LAW? No it is not, although some federal judges seem to think it is.
The acolytes of political correctness are at it again. The newest editions of Mark Twain’s “Tom Sawyer” and “Huckleberry Finn” have replaced all instances of the “N-word” and replaced them with the word “slave”. First of all, they have not asked the author’s permission to change his words. Secondly, they are changing the historical accuracy, since the now-forbidden word was completely common for the types of people represented by the characters in Twain’s masterpieces. Are they going to change the words of the Constitution the next time they print it? Well…we know Democrats and liberal judges want to.
This is absolutely rich. Outgoing Queen of the House Red Nanny P-Lousy said that the House Democrats are going to “go forward to -- to create jobs, reduce the deficit, and protect the middle class.” She was just one of many Dims saying that their plan was to focus on the economy, while criticizing the GOP for “looking backward” in their efforts to repeal Obamacare. What makes this soooo hysterical is that the Dims have used the past 48 months to kill private sector jobs, completely blow up the deficit to sizes that could never have been imagined before Pelosi’s reign, and destroy the middle class…while forcing Obamacare down our throats without ever reading or debating the bill.
The rest of the Dim-ocrats keep referring to the GOP’s reading of the Constitution to open this Congress as a “gimmick” (or worse), but in this video, Joyless Behar asks if “this Constitution-loving is getting out of hand” and Bill Press says that the Constitution includes a right of privacy. Press also suggests that the Republicans have never read the Constitution, when it is the Dim-ocrats who keep saying that they can’t understand it because it is over 100 years old.
The Crawfish is a big fan of R. Lee Ermey. The man is pure American Marine. He tells it like it is and if that upsets you, too damned bad. Thanks to this appearance, he is now probably on Homeland Security Ditz Napolitano’s NO-FLY list and the Affirmative Action Attorney General’s investigation list.
Speaking of the Affirmative Action Attorney General, he now has a new Deputy Attorney General overseeing national security, and that deputy is just as much of an anti-American leftist as Eric Holder. The Chosen One made a recess appointment to get James Cole into the job for the rest of Obama’s time in office. James Cole believes that we are NOT in a war with Islam, and that muslim terrorists need to be treated just like any other criminals in our system. Why is it sooooo hard for liberals to understand that Islam declared war on the rest of the world when it was created by the power-hungry pedophile named Mohammed over 1300 years ago? What part of the Koran’s declaration that all Infidels must be converted, enslaved (the term is dhimmitude, research it yourself), or put to the sword is hard to comprehend?
I shoulda suspected it, but I didn’t know that the Society of Professional Journalists has a “Diversity Committee”. Anyway, this liberal claptrap committee is trying to spread the word to all journalists that Latinos (defined as those who want Mexico to take over most of the American Southwest) find the term “illegal immigrant” offensive, so journalists should use “undocumented immigrant” instead. I don’t care if the term is offensive or not. It is the TRUTH! Would they prefer “WETBACK”??? How about “deportable job stealer”?

The staff of The Claw hopes that all of y’all had a blessed Christmas. We (okay…I) wish you a wonderful, happy, prosperous New Year.
John Kerry-Heinz has just brought to our attention one of the reasons that he lost to liberal George W. Bush. The gold-digger thinks that it would be irresponsible and a waste of the Senate’s time to actually read the 1924 page, $1,100,000,000,000.00+ omnibus budget bill. He is an idiot of the First Order. His buddy, Representative (he only represents himself, not the real people) John Conyers (Donkey-Meechiganistan) also doesn’t believe in reading the bill, stating “What good is reading the bill if it’s a thousand pages and you don’t have two days and two lawyers to find out what it means after you read the bill?” This kind of arrogance is why the voters overwhelmingly voted for conservatives this year, and why this Congress has the lowest approval ratings in history. If the bill is too complex for a lawmaker to understand it, then it needs to be broken down into small parts and written in simple English, not lawyerese.
Once upon a time, His Majesty King Barack I promised that any bill that came to his desk would be posted online to be read and examined by the public for 5 days before he would sign it. Sooooooooo…why did he sign the tax compromise bill within hours of it being passed by the House? Why hasn’t the bill faced any court challenges, since the Constitution mandates that all tax bills originate in the House, when this one went through the Senate first?
So how extreme was the unholy troika of Obama-Reid-Pelosi? Consider the fact that the 111th Congress added more to our national debt than the first 100 Congresses COMBINED. That is what happens when liberals get unfettered control, and our grandchildren will pay for it if the nation is still in existence.
Glo-Bull Warming has struck Great Britain. They are reporting the coldest December since record keeping began. Has anybody heard any pronouncements from the Prophet Algoracle lately? Just in case any of you out there still believe him, here’s some more evidence of the fraud that is Glo-Bull Warming, and how the media and the leftists (sorry for repeating myself there) have been trying to hoodwink the people.
Meanwhile, Homeland Security Ditz Napolitano has created the Climate Change and Adaptation Task Force as part of her department. Its job is “identifying and assessing the impact that climate change could have on the missions and operations of the Department of Homeland Security.” Here’s some hints, ditz: If it rains, agents wear raincoats. If it snows, agents wear heavier coats. If it is muddy, agents use four-wheel drive vehicles instead of sedans. If it is hot and dry, agents drink all of the water from the jugs liberals put out to help the non-drybacks.
For those out there who still refuse to acknowledge that Barack Obama is a white-hating anti-American activist, take a look at the UN declaration that he has now signed onto. White taxpayers are now going to be forced to pay reparations to tribal Americans, and possibly give up lands which were once tribal lands. That means the ENTIRE nation for those of you who were educated by unionized teachers. Look for His Eminence to get the Useless Nations to put forth a similar declaration regarding slavery and the descendants of slaves in the near future.
In a move that is at least a century overdue, the incoming House leadership has instituted a new rule. All bills being filed with the House clerk must have their Constitutionality specifically cited, or the House clerk will not accept them. This rule would have prevented Obamacare, the GM takeover, multiple bailouts, the Community Reinvestment Act (the root cause of the credit crisis), Social Insecurity, Welfare, the amnesty bills, all of the New Deal and Great Society, and many more liberal programs that have been wrecking our nation.
For the first time in 63 years, there is no Kennedy in elected office in DC. Is there a coincidence that now the Constitution is going to be read and somewhat adhered to in the House? Those 63 years saw that document used as toilet paper by the Democratic Party and the liberal establishment wing of the GOP, including both Presidents Bush.
It is 85 pages worth, but the “Wastebook 2010” presented by Senator Tom Coburn (R-Oklahoma is OK) highlights the kind of spending by Congress that We The People have had it with.
Is it acceptable for any group to harass private citizens in their homes? Of course, the answer is no…unless that group of people happens to be a union during the reign of the SEIU and their minion, Barack Obama. Gotta love liberal thugs.

The GOP caves in to the Democrats on extending payments to people who are too lazy to look for work or too proud to take a job that pays less than their dream job, and what do the Democrats in the House do? They reject the deal because the eeeeevilllllll rich don’t get soaked with economy-killing tax hikes. Those idjuts obviously didn’t get the message that the American voters delivered in November.
What happens when you have a city that is run by unions and other liberals for a long time without any opposition? You get Detroit, which is sinking to a new low. Pulling cops and firefighters out of many parts of the city is a solution?
A federal judge in Virginia has ruled that the Obamacare individual mandate is indeed unConstitutional. Good grief. The GOP caves in to the Democrats on extending payments to people who are too lazy to look for work or too proud to take a job that pays less than their dream job, and what do the Democrats in the House do? They reject the deal because the eeeeevilllllll rich don’t get soaked with economy-killing tax hikes. Those idjuts obviously didn’t get the message that the American voters delivered in November.
What happens when you have a city that is run by unions and other liberals for a long time without any opposition? You get Detroit, which is sinking to a new low. Pulling cops and firefighters out of many parts of the city is a solution?
A federal judge in Virginia has ruled that the Obamacare individual mandate is indeed unConstitutional. This judge actually read the bill and has read and understands the Constitution, and those are actions that the other federal judges who have ruled on the matter obviously haven’t accomplished. What foreign law will the Affirmative Action Associate Justice use to uphold it next year?

An ILLEGAL ALIEN in Minnesota (okay, so I also happened in the land of frostbitten brains) had an operation paid for by the taxpayers. Was this some kind of life-saving emergency surgery? Nope. The taxpayers paid for the implantation of a penis pump in the non-dryback. Wouldn’t it have been cheaper to give him a plane ticket to El Salvador?
The tax compromise bill has passed the Senate and will now head to the House. Unfortunately, it must now be made null and void, because as Representative Bachman points out, the Constitution MANDATES that all tax bills must originate in the House. Of course, what does our current government (and the ones over the past century) care about the Constitution?

12-8-2010 The Weekly Claw
Short edition this week. I’m trying to decide how much I dislike the deal that the GOP made with Obama this week. We gave up waaaaay too much to maintain the status quo on income taxes. Why should anybody need 3 years worth of unemployment benefits?
Considering how deep in cahoots Obama is with the unions, I’m surprised that there has not been any federal action regarding a bunch of union (UAW) jobs that are about to be lost in Hurst, TX. Bell Helicopter is moving just about all of their remaining helicopter production away from their home base in the DFW Metroplex, where the workers are in a union, to Amarillo, TX, where the workers are not unionized, and where nobody really wants to go to get a job. Let’s face it. Who in their right mind wants to live in Amarillo? Larry Bell moved his company to Hurst for a reason in 1951. From that location, he could take advantage of the work forces in Dallas and Fort Worth, which has now become one large metro area instead of two cities 45 miles apart.
We have now uncovered the holiday season talking point of the Democratic Party: Welfare is the biggest stimulus ever devised! We all thought that it was just a case of Queen of the House (not for long!) Red Nanny P-Lousy’s two remaining brain cells having a Gaffes Biden moment when she spouted that nonsense in July, but the idea has caught on. Here she is saying that low taxes are not conducive to job creation while unemployment checks really work. Meeeechigan’s Senator Stabenow agrees, which might explain why her state’s economy has been in the toilet for years. Ohio’s Senator Sherrod Brown used the same fatally-flawed logic on Tingly Leg Matthews’ show. Stabenow and Brown do have an excuse for this stoooopidity. Their states have been going downhill for quite a while, even during the low-tax years, but the tax rates aren’t what destroyed jobs in Meeeechigan and Ohio. The destroyer of jobs in those states was (drum roll please) UNIONS!!!!!
One of the early stars of the Dallas Cowboys, Don Meredith, passed away suddenly this week at age 72. “Dandy Don” quarterbacked the Cowboys in two NFL Championship games against Green Bay, including the “Ice Bowl”, and later became a broadcaster for ABC’s Monday Night Football and a commercial spokesman for Lipton iced tea. For a while, he lived just down the street from The Crawfish…a very young Crawfish. He was truly one of the great characters of the game. “Turn out the lights. The party’s over.” Rest in peace, #17.
One of the overpaid idiots of the NFL flapped his jaw a bit too much this week. Antrel Rolle (what kind of name is Antrel???) said the fans shouldn’t boo the players, comparing them to our military. “We risk ourselves out there on the field each and every day also. When soldiers come home from Iraq you don't boo them. I look at it the same way. I take my job seriously.” Really? Do you want to trade places with our military? Do you want to get paid less in a 20-year career than you now get for half of a season? Do you want a retirement that pays less than 5% of your NFL retirement? Do you want health insurance that sucks? Do you want to spend lots of time away from home with the chance of getting shot, instead of working one day a week in front of adoring crowds? Do you want to actually work all year instead of taking off half of the year?
Homeland Security Ditz Napolitano says giving illegals amnesty in order to go to college would help our anti-illegal immigrant efforts. Liberal logic on display.
