Special Edition of The Weekly Claw 3-20-2011

Welcome to a special edition of The Weekly Claw. My draft column for March 23rd was getting a wee bit long, so I have taken some of the content and moved it to this edition.

I fully support the military actions against Libya. My main complaints are that they should have started a few days earlier and The Won should have gotten Congressional approval first. The actions do, however, bring up an interesting point. When George W. Bush was President and they were campaigning against each other (and W even though he wasn’t running), both Barack and Hillary! were completely opposed to such actions. The Won said, “The President does not have power under the Constitution to unilaterally authorize a military attack in a situation that does not involve stopping an actual or imminent threat to the nation.” Former President Hillary said, “The President has the solemn duty to defend our Nation. If the country is under truly imminent threat of attack, of course the President must take appropriate action to defend us. At the same time, the Constitution requires Congress to authorize war. I do not believe that the President can take military action -- including any kind of strategic bombing -- against Iran without congressional authorization. That is why I have supported legislation [GG: also supported by Obama] to bar President Bush from doing so and that is also why I think it is irresponsible to suggest, as some have recently, that anything Congress already has enacted provides that authority.” That’s kind of a funny position for Hillary! to take, since she (well…technically her husband) authorized a bunch of air strikes against Iraq when they broke the terms of the 1991 cease fire repeatedly. My how the rhetoric of the far left changes when one of their own is in the White House.

The left has already started saying how “judicious” (Jim McDermott) Barack Obama has been in taking action in Libya, while George W. Bush took us into Iraq “all alone” and without any international support. Let’s look at this from a couple of angles. Obama got authorization from the United Nations, but not from our own Congress. THAT is not legal according to the War Powers Act. George W. Bush also waited for a UN resolution before Iraq 2003, but he didn’t need it, nor did he need Congressional approval, which he got anyway. Iraq had violated a ceasefire treaty that had been agreed upon in 1991. The terms mandated that if Saddam broke the agreement, the Desert Storm Coalition was OBLIGED under international law to reform and forcibly remove him from power. Our own Senate had agreed to that ceasefire accord, so further Congressional approval was not necessary. How many times do I need to repeat this before it sinks into the dense liberal skulls…and the dense skulls of the GOP? When the left calls W a “cowboy”, we need to make this point clearly!

When one group of people launches over 50 mortar shots across a border into another people’s territory, it is usually considered to be an act of war. The peaceful folks of Hamas did just that on Saturday. Of course, any retaliation by the Israelis will be considered unjustified and pure-D-wrong by the world community, but the Crawfish says Israel needs to wipe out all of the rat nests in Gaza and the West Bank. If the so-called palestinians don’t like it, they can move to Jordan or Syria.

Wow. Janet Incompetano can’t screen ANYTHING coming across the border, but she can have every flight coming in from Japan thoroughly screened.

Meanwhile, there is a new drug to help prevent radiation sickness, and it could also help those who face heavy radiation treatments for diseases. It was NOT developed by the eeeeevillll big pharmaceutical companies, and had no union involvement. It was developed by the United States military. Of course, the FDA, which is banning Primatene Mist, hasn’t given the wonder drug approval, yet.

Which is more important, the desires of a few extremist envirowackos or the health of millions of asthma sufferers in the United States. Considering who is in the White House and who is in charge of the Senate, do you really have any doubt to the answer for that question? Primatene Mist, the ONLY over the counter inhaler for mild asthma, is going to be banned by the FDA because it contains chlorofluorocarbons. CFCs are on The Prophet Algoracle’s no-no list, and that trumps health concerns in America.

Somehow, I think this preacher is about as “reverend” as Jesse Hijackson and Al “Tawana Brawley” Sharpton. “Gimme all yo mo-nay, or you will go to Hell!”

I’m not saying that I knew who was going to be number 1 or anything, but I did live in that area for seven years.

They’re not union, but they certainly leftists, and their civility is just what we have come to expect from the left. Socialists banded together with anti-American left-wing open border advocates for a rally in the City of the Illegal Mayor. Their civility message was, “OPEN THE FU**ING BORDERS!” Well, that and American conservatives are Nazis and racists.

GOOD NEWS! We have now reached the point where all “mandatory” federal spending, which does NOT include Defense, now exceeds all revenue that the gummint takes in! Yes, even if we were to not spend a dime on the military, homeland security, interstate highways, national parks, and all other “discretionary” programs, we would still have a deficit. Thank you Barack Obama, Harry Reid, and Nancy P-Lousy. In the last year of W, the “mandatory” spending was $914 billion LESS than the revenue. If we were to really look at the “mandatory” programs, we would probably find that the majority of that spending is not Constitutional, so it really isn’t “mandatory” at all.

FINALLY! The Securities and Exchange Commission is filing charges against some of the executives of Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae for the roles they had in the credit collapse and all of the fraud that had been committed by those entities. Unfortunately, Franklin Raines and Jamie Gorelick, who both made millions from Freddie and Fannie, are not being charged since they were also big-time Democrat fundraisers and donors.

If y’all come across any weird/stoooopid/strange news stories that might be fodder for The Weekly Claw or The Weekend Claw, e-mail them to me at CrawfishsClaw@yahoo.com and I’ll consider ‘em. Yes, I will give you newshounds credit.

“A free people ought not only to be armed and disciplined, but they should have sufficient arms and ammunition to maintain a status of independence from any who might attempt to abuse them, which would include their own government."--George Washington

(Easy to do on a Sunday)

Well, as you know from my blog, I don't really agree with you on our involvement in Libya. But I won't belabor that.

I'm not really sure what the big flap is about Primatene. If they use CFCs, it would be as the pressurizer to force the spray out. It's not an ingredient of the medicine itself. So it's no biggie to just use another compound to do that, or sell it in hand-pump bottles with the little thumb-spray pump thingie.

This is no different from when hair sprays had to change their propellant, as far as I can see.

  2. Brian,
there was some reason that they continued using the CFC propellant. I don't remember what it was but something about the other ones not being as effective with that medication.

So are you going to revive the Blogspot columns?

    ReplyDelete
  3. No on Blogspot. I'm happy where I am, and get more traffic.

On Primatene, I seem to remember the hair spray manufacturers making the same type of claim. Yet here we are, with no CFCs in hair spray cans.

Same thing when air conditioners had to be redesigned to eliminate the use of CFCs. They simply came up with another refrigerant.

I just don't see it as being any big thing, and it sure won't remove the product from the market. They'll just have to redesign or re-engineer the delivery system.

  5. Craw,

Good post and I am GLAD that you put those scumbags Raines and Gorelick in the limelight as NOT being charged. Both of them should be in prison if there was any justice in America, Raines for Fannie/Freddie and Gorelick for her role in 9/11.

  6. Brian,
for the sake of the asthma sufferers, I hope so.

  7. Gunny,
Gorelick covered all bases. 9-11 AND Freddie/Fannie!
The two of them, and their F/F friends could make a good investigative column.

  8. 1. It's wrong if Bush does it but it's okay if we do it. Hypocracy thy name is Democrat. But what distresses me even more is no matter how many times they are caught in a lie ("spiraling down through anti-aircraft fire", "if you want to keep your doctor you will be able to," etc) over and over yet a sizable number of Americans will still vote for them.

    2. Bush might have been a cowboy. Sometimes a cowboy is needed. But looking at his attention to the border, his big government spending along with his actions against Sadam, I tend to think he was a drugstore cowboy.

    3. I think the Jewish patron saint should be "Saint" Jobe. They sure have had patience for a lot of years. Just as they refused to return the Golan Heights or the Gaza Strip I believe every time they are attacked they should take the site of the attack, keep the land and run the attackers off. Pretty soon the attacks will stop either because Hmas gets its head out of its 7th century ass or because there ain't no more Palestine.

    4. As far as I know there are no wetbacks or terrorists coming on Japan Air from Tokyo so it is perfectly logical she would screen these flights carefully.

    5. Wanna bet Al Gore could get Primatene if he wanted it? Just like his fuel burning jet, SUV and ... how many thousand square foot mansions? Or, how many mansions now. Funny. He says the seas are going to rise 20' but he buys a beach house in Santa Barbara right on the beach.

    6. Funny how the left keeps calling conservatives "NAZI's" and facists, yet both the NAZI's and the facists were far closer aligned to the ideology of these jerks than to that of conservatives.

    7. Dang. I always thought mandatory spending was on things like our military, highways and border protection. Now I am to believe it is for aid to Outer Slobovia, Jihadistan and Kickyerkratchi or study and protection of the tit mouse??

    8. Somehow I have a feeling Barney Franks and Chris Dodd will not be charged, either. Just the water carriers.

  9. Crawfish,

With the rapid rate of stupidity from the regime you might need to post at least twice a week.

I politely disagree with the use of our military in Libya. I don't see a good outcome for us. Once again the sand-nazis will blame the USA for all the evils once the smoke clears. The Arab League has already back-peddled from their initial support of the campaign.

If intervention by the USA to promote liberty was the net sum gain in any conflict then I am for it but I don't don't see it here. Why not in Barhain, Saudi, Iran, Yemen, Sudan, and on and on?

This is about Libyan oil for Euro and nothing more. Libya is the Euro-weenies fight not ours. In my opinion.

If our mission was to take out Ghadfi for past aggressions then fine but that is not the case here.

    Good post as always.

  10. Two Claws?? A)I'm with Brian. Also,WHY would Oclucka follow the Constitution now? Doesn't fit the asshole's MO.
B)Save your breath. Sledgehammers, ball bats, shot out of a cannon, the left STILL won't get it. Too much for their little moonbat brains to wrap around.
C)Unfortunately,Israel is on her own. However, now would be a good time to "eliminate the threat" what with U-frigging-N and the rest of the asshats focused on Libya. They will chastised no matter what they choose to do,so they may as well simply do whatever it takes.
D)Nappy. Gotta spread that ol' fear and panic.I'd feel much safer with stuff coming from Japan than Messico,no doubt.
E)FDA + Fucking Dumb Asses. 'Nuff said.
F)Awww, the poor ozone hole. It's been forgotten about, thanks to the NEWER scam of the Fraudacle's. Don't hear much about THAT anymore,do we? Hmmm...WHY could that be?? It was adamned hoax as well??
G)This must be one of Wright's contemporaries. Something tells me the good "reverend" will soon be out of business. How'd that old song go,"Dealin'in dirt, and stealin'in the name of the Lord"?? Four Tops???
H)The only GOOD thing about Filthy is Pat's. IMHO
I)After watching that,my thought was, they think the Tea Party is the problem?? WTF,over?? Couldn't have been more than a collective IQ of 6 in that entire bunch. Too bad Lake Michigan couldn't have a west-bound tsunami about that time,eh?
    J) Yep. The Three Soros Stooges have been successful I'd say.
    K) While a good start, without the PRIMARY criminals identified, this will go nowhere. Remember who runs the SEC,and Justice.
    Fine stinker there,Craw.See ya later.

  11. Craw, I disagree on our involvement in Libya. Personally I think we should let all the Muslims "duke" it out. The more they kill each other, the less that we will eventually have to fight later. However, I would not argue the point with a friend like yourself. Let's just say we have a slight disagreement.

Raines and Gorelick will eventually be charged; but not until 2013.

Sorry for being late to the party, but I was in Gatlinburg, TN on vacation with my family.

  12. Buck,
    1) And they can't seem to notice it! Well, Kucinich seems to have noticed, but nobody listens to him.
    2) I always say that W was only good on a few issues: SCOTUS nominations, tax cuts for all tax payers (but should have put lowest level at 5% instead of ZERO for bottom 50% of earners), and fighting the war over there instead of over here. Other than those, he was a big government elitist liberal Democrat.
    3) And send every one of 'em back to Jordan and Syria.
    4) WE HAVE A WINNER!
    5) The seas DID rise 20 feet...in Sendai!
    6) Quit bringing facts to the discussion!
    7) Mandatory spending should just be exactly what the Constitution allows.
    8) Unfortunately, you are correct.

  13. Hardnox,
I agreed with what the arab league and UN had in mind, but we've gone waaaaay too far now.
Libya was once an ally, and the royal family (deposed by Gaddhafi in 1969) is aligned with the rebels and asking for American help. I was all for being a PART of the effort to get the mercenary troops and loyalists to back off of Benghazi, but the situation has changed since I wrote this column.

  14. Clyde,
    a) I'm definitely not in favor of what it has become, but we should have gotten involved earlier. I'll try a better explanation for Wednesday.
    b) I know....they have their single cell minds made up to support him and attack anybody to the right of Lenin.
    c) Ya never know. Obama might move the no-fly zone to Israel.
    d) Quick...inspect the people coming from Alaska! That's enemy territory!
    e) Can you be more clear in your thoughts?
    f) Wellllllll.....YES!
    g) Nah. One of Jesse's disciples.
    h) GENO'S!!!! Joey Vento is a big opponent of illegal aliens!
    i) 6????
    j) More on Soros and his minions Wednesday.
    k) Yep. Soros, Obama, and the DNC.
