From the Crawfish family to all of you, may you enjoy the celebration of the birth of our great nation and come back ready to kick those sorry excuses for statesmen out of OUR capitol!
A) “Fourth of July celebrations in the United States shape the nation's political landscape by forming beliefs and increasing participation, primarily in favor of the Republican Party.” Yes, Independence Day is an eeevilll partisan right-wing holiday, according to a study by those intelligent, yet oh so stoooooopid, academics at Haaa-vaahd. Folks, if this isn’t proof that every single bit of traditional and patriotic America is opposed by liberals, I don’t know what is.
B) You have GOT to watch this six minute video of ex-NAACP President C.L. Bryant. He calls out the black “leaders” like nobody else can.
C) For all of the union and Democrat screeching about how the new public sector union law was going to be a disaster in Wisconsin, the opposite is (of course) true. The Kaukauna School District near Appleton has about 4,000 students, and because of this new law they will go from a projected $400,000 deficit to a $1,500,000 surplus. It is NOT simply because the teachers are going to be forced to contribute a small amount to their health and retirement plans (still paying much less than the private sector), but also because the school district can now shop for the most competitive insurance plans instead of being forced to go through a company that was run by the teachers union. The teachers will also be forced to (OH. MY. GAWD!) actually work 40 hours per week. See! Getting rid of liberal corruption is ALWAYS in the best interest of the taxpayers.
D) Meanwhile, the public sector unions in England are now on strike, and they are such spoiled brats that they make the Wisconsin teachers look like excessively hard workers. Just take a look at what has them up in arms: actually having to put some money toward their pensions, having those pensions based upon an average of their career salaries instead of just the final year, and seeing the full-retirement age raised to 68. Oh, the horror of it all.
E) Wow, two editions in a row in which I get to highlight extreme stooooopidity on the part of the UN. North Korea has a history of breaches of arms embargoes and is still saying that they will expand their nuke programs, so how about giving that government the Presidency of the UN Conference on Disarmament. That’s almost as smart as putting Bill Clinton and John Edwards in charge of a marital fidelity convention.
F) The serial LIAR in the White House now has a new wealth-envy talking point, “corporate jet owners”. He is attacking them for being soooo rich and using tax subsidies for their aviation assets. There’s one small problem with this attack, however, as the tax subsidies involved were passed by a House lead by Red Nanny P-Lousy and a Senate lead by Dingy Harry Reid, and signed by some guy named Obama. Yes, they were part of his much-heralded “stimulus” package, but he blames the GOP even though not a single GOP Representative voted for that bill. As one person commented at a website I peruse often, “Maybe if Obama forces a luxury tax on private aircraft, he will just have a law passed that will force people making over $1,000,000 to purchase a luxury aircraft. After all, if the government can force people to buy health insurance, why couldn't they force someone to buy a luxury aircraft?”
G) Even if those mean, nasty, wealthy jet owners were forced to give up that tax break, which Obama mentioned SIX times in on presser (showing how important it is to him politically), it would only cut the deficit by 1/10 of 1% of Obama’s deficit reduction goals, while it would eliminate hundreds of jobs in the corporate aviation industry. Take a look at what happened to jobs in industries that were hit with a “luxury tax” back when liberal George Herbert Walker “Read my lips” Bush was President, and realize that those are dollar figures from 20 years ago. Once again we have proof that Obama is all for creating jobs, as long as they are NOT in the private sector.
H) Wednesday’s column had a story about the Obama Administration meeting with a terrorist (on Interpol’s Most Wanted list) who is now in Iran’s government. This edition includes the Administration’s formal recognition and dialogue with the Muslim Brotherhood, which refuses to officially recognize Israel and calls for Israel’s extermination, and the Malignant Dwarf (aka Dennis the Menace Kucinich) going over to Syria and publicly praising Syria’s murderous dictator on television. Is there ANY doubt as to what side the Democratic Party is on? Obama got 78% of the Jewish vote in 2008, despite all of the warnings, his campaign connections to Hamas, and his 20 years of loving the Jew-hating Jeremiah Wright. Since then he has started losing support from America’s Jewish voters and campaign donors (well, the 30% of America’s Jews who approve of Israel and are not JINOs…Jews In Name Only).
I) Texas Governor Rick Perry, in a very smart move whether or not he is actually going to run for President, has formally requested that the Affirmative Action Attorney General and the Administration take action against any Americans, American organizations, and American companies that take part in or support the next flotilla trying to break the Israeli naval blockade to support the terrorists of Hamas. Two of the ships, “Audacity of Hope” and “Challenger II” are American-flagged vessels, so they and the rest of the assets of the company that owns them can be seized by the FBI if they attempt to break the blockade. Anyone involved faces 3 years in federal prison IF Eric Holder upholds our own federal laws. I know…fat chance of THAT ever happening.
J) President Obama has named a new Director for the National Counterterrorism Center. Did he name an intelligence or military professional to this post? Nope. The Dope with Hope nominated a lawyer from the National Security Agency (aka None Such Agency) to the position. Gawd, will it ever be nice to get some non-lawyer adults running our nation starting in late January of 2013.
K) On my way to work Friday, I heard Representative Thad McCotter interviewed by Fred and Jeri Thompson, who seemed to give him their endorsement ahead of his Saturday official announcement that he is entering the Presidential race. He sounds good initially, but I’ve got to do some digging before I form a solid opinion, since I really don’t know much about him. Friend of the Claw Dan Calabrese doesn’t care for his fellow Michigander, who appears to twist his positions according to the political winds in Dan’s opinion. Do any of my readers know much about him? What little I have uncovered doesn’t look too good. Right now, my top five are (in order): Bachmann, Cain, Pawlenty, Crawfish, and anybody not named Romney, Gingrich, or Ron Paul (love him on domestic issues and the Constitution, but detest him on foreign affairs and the military).
L) Let me get this straight. A Michigan law that bans discrimination based on race and gender is overturned by a federal court because it violates the rights of minorities by making them actually get into college or get a contract based on merit? The ban on racial preferences “unconstitutionally alters Michigan’s political structure by impermissibly burdening racial minorities”? In other words, the liberal position is that women and minorities are ALWAYS inferior and need special preferences in order to succeed. The two judges who overturned the law are: R. Guy Cole Jr., a black man appointed by Monica’s boyfriend, and Martha Craig Daughtrey, who was also appointed by Monica’s boyfriend.
M) President Obama was invited by the Senate Republicans to discuss the debt reduction battle, but according to the White House spokesman, was “not a conversation worth having.” He seems to be too busy to get involved in solving the problem. He WILL, on the other hand, take Gaffes Biden along to meet with Senate Democrats to plan how to make the GOP look bad when the House refuses to accept their tax hikes and spending increases.
N) All of that scolding of Congress, especially Republicans, golfing, campaigning, and golfing has taken a toll on King Putt. While he demanded that Congress not take a recess so they could continue debt reduction talks, he is taking a break from it all. You see, he always wanted to be President, but he never wanted the responsibilities and work required to BE President. We tried to warn America about this lazy, marxist-socialist, terrorist-loving, Israel-hating, racist twit in early 2008, but nobody listened. I even wrote a 16-part series taking his main campaign document, "The Blueprint for Change", apart chapter-by-chapter. It is going to take 40 years of conservative Presidents, with conservative Houses and Senates, to reverse the century of liberalism (Wilson to Obama) and set our nation back onto its Constitutional path of prosperity.
O) The stand-off is not just in DC. In Minnesota, the Republican-led legislature put forth a balanced budget with 6% growth and no new taxes before the liberal Governor. The Governor and his liberal allies refused that budget, since they want a TWENTY FOUR PERCENT INCREASE in government spending in the next two years and increased taxes on the state’s millionaires. This is in a state that is already overtaxed, ranking 43rd in overall tax climate according to the Tax Foundation.
P) The job of redistricting the Congressional map in Arizona is not going to be done by the state legislature or even the Independent Redistricting Committee. They have turned the job over to a campaign consulting firm for left-wing candidates whose president was Obama’s national target director in 2008. That ought to work out fairly, right?
Q) Seventy-seven freshman House Republicans are taking action to prevent Obama from making any recess appointments for the rest of his term in office, especially to prevent Elizabeth Warren from taking over the new, and unConstitutional, Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, which would scrutinize every single credit transaction in the nation. Good job!
R) Kirsten Powers, one of the regular Democrat contributors at Fox News, seems to be quite impressed by Michelle Bachmann, and in a positive way. Her Daily Beast column is a very good read.
S) How in the world do the media keep getting away with calling every bit of news regarding economic failures for the left “unexpected”? When it happens time after time, it is fully expected.
T) The media and imams are trying to say that OBL was not really a muslim, and that all of the violence associated with him was not true Islam. I guess that means that the founder of Islam, Mohammed, was not really a muslim either. Is that what they’re trying to say?
U) Do we really need to be considering a “debt limit” right now? Section 4 of the 14th Amendment states: “The validity of the public debt of the United States, authorized by law, including debts incurred for payment of pensions and bounties for services in suppressing insurrection or rebellion, shall not be questioned.” That sounds like an unlimited debt limit.
V) Finally, we have some progress on entitlement reform in the Senate. Senator Coburn (a Medical Doctor) and Senator Lieberman have put forth a proposal to reform Medicare. It ain’t perfect, but it is a long way from the current plan that the rest of the Democrats support, which is to kick that can down the road and blame Republicans.
W) Senator DICK “Turban” Durbin had all the illegals in the hearing room stand up while he was waxing eloquently (or not) about the DREAM Amnesty Act, and said that one of them might even become President one day. First of all, no illegal is eligible to become President (unless he is a black Democrat who cannot produce any employer I-9 forms, his college records, a PAPER copy of his birth certificate, and who says that anyone who questions his forged documents is a “kook”) according to that moldy old document known as the Constitution. Secondly, since those folks were on Crapitol Hill and self-identified as illegals, why weren’t they immediately taken into custody to be deported?
X) Hmmmm. It now appears that Elena Kagan committed perjury in her testimony at her SCOTUS nomination hearings. Now we all know that perjury is completely acceptable when it comes from a Democrat in federal service, right Monica’s boyfriend?
Y) Neal Boortz had a wonderful little rant on Thursday after PrezBo’s presser.
If y’all come across any weird/stoooopid/strange news stories that might be fodder for The Weekly Claw or The Weekend Claw, e-mail them to me at CrawfishsClaw@yahoo.com and I’ll consider ‘em. Yes, I will give you newshounds credit.
